First time applications or renewals

Changes to CSCS Green Card (Labourer Card) rules take effect February 1, 2025. Renewing your card will require proof of current employment as a labourer. Here’s a summary:

  • Shorter Initial Card Validity: First-time Labourer Cards issued after February 1, 2025, will be valid for two years instead of five. Renewal is possible after two years with proof of employment.

  • Extended CITB Test Validity: The CITB Health, Safety and Environment test will now be valid for three years, simplifying the initial application and first renewal.

  • Proof of Employment Required for Renewals: Cards issued or renewed before February 2025 will retain their five-year validity. However, all renewals after this date, including those with expired cards, will require proof of current employment as a labourer. Acceptable proof includes an employer’s letter on headed paper or a completed CSCS form.

Who Needs A CSCS Green Card?

A CSCS Green Card is primarily for labourers working on construction sites in the UK. It’s often a requirement for anyone working in these roles, demonstrating that they have the basic health and safety awareness needed to work safely on site. So, if you’re a general construction operative, a site labourer, or involved in similar hands-on roles on a building site, you’ll likely need a CSCS Green Card.

Why Should I Do It Online?

Online CSCS Green Card training is flexible, letting you learn at your own pace, anytime, anywhere. It’s more accessible and often more affordable than in-person courses, improving work-life balance. Self-paced learning ensures better understanding. Get qualified conveniently and efficiently online.

How Long Do They Last?

The Labourer card is valid for two years upon initial application. Workers who continue in labouring roles can renew their card for a five-year period by providing evidence of ongoing employment in a labouring role – (CSCS UK) – February 2025

Please note:

To apply for a CSCS Green Card, you’ll need both your Safe2Site Level 1 Health & Safety certificate and your CITB Health, Safety & Environment score report. After successfully completing the application process, you’ll receive your CSCS Green Card, enabling you to work on UK construction sites.
